Sam Annand
Sam Annand is a sound artist, composer and mastering engineer based in Fife, Scotland. His practice spans two decades and moves between disciplines, composition, acoustic field work, modular synthesis, mastering, united by a sustained curiosity about the relationship between sound and space.
From 2008 to 2011 he recorded and released music as Architeq with Tirk Recordings, London, performing at the Queen Elizabeth Hall and Fondation Vasarely, Aix-en-Provence, with work appearing in campaigns by Stella McCartney, Adidas, Apple, BBC and Sony PlayStation.
Since 2012 he has worked as a mastering engineer, building close working relationships with independent record labels and artists.
In 2016 he led the composition and production of Resono, a New Media Scotland-funded project using impulse responses of extreme reverberant spaces across Scotland to create music made bespoke to each environment. The project was featured on BBC Radio 3 Night Tracks, 6Music, BBC Radio Scotland and The Times.
He is currently developing Macro, a Creative Scotland-funded body of compositions in a macrotonal tuning system of his own invention, written for a small ensemble of voice, harp, strings and woodwind.
